Privacy policy

Flashy is an independently developed app (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Flashy mobile app and this website, getflashy.app. Questions? Email support@getflashy.app.

Flashy does not require an account and contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Your flashcards, images, and review history are never transmitted anywhere.

The single exception is crash reporting. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report through Sentry, our error-monitoring provider, so we can find and fix the bug. A report contains technical information about the failure:

• The error and the code path that produced it (a stack trace).
• Device model, operating system version, and Flashy version.
• A random identifier used to group repeated crashes from the same install. It is not linked to you and does not follow you across apps.

Crash reports never include your decks, cards, images, review history, or the contents of anything you type. We have disabled Sentry's optional collection of personally identifying information, along with its performance tracing and session replay features. Reports are used only to diagnose and fix defects, and are never sold or shared for advertising.

Everything you create in Flashy — decks, cards, tags, images, and review history — is stored in a local database on your device. It is included in your device backups (e.g. iCloud or encrypted iTunes backups) under the standard iOS backup rules you control. Deleting the app permanently deletes this data from your device.

If you attach an image to a flashcard, Flashy asks for permission to access the photos you select. Selected images are copied into the app's private storage on your device and are used only to display your cards. They are never uploaded anywhere.

Flashy is a paid app sold through the Apple App Store (and, in the future, Google Play). Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We never see your name, payment details, or billing address.

getflashy.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP address and requested page) to operate and secure the service, as described in the provider's own privacy documentation.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as needed to help you. We never add you to mailing lists or share your address.

Flashy is suitable for all ages. The app has no account system and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Crash reports contain only technical diagnostics about a failure, never personal details, and we make no attempt to identify who sent one.

Privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA give you rights over personal data a company holds about you. Everything you create in Flashy is already fully in your hands, on your device, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. We hold no account records. Crash reports are technical diagnostics that are not linked to your identity, so we generally cannot connect one to a particular person — but if you contact us with the details, we will locate and delete any report we can identify as yours. Support emails you have sent us will also be deleted on request.

If we ever change how Flashy works in a way that affects privacy (for example, adding an optional sync feature), we will update this policy first and note the change prominently here and in the app's release notes. The “last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version.
